What is our service?

Japan visa application for NSW or NT residents
Our service is to lodge your Japan visa application to the Consulate General of Japan in Sydney on behalf of you. As we, H.I.S. Australia - Sydney office, have regular appointment with consulate, you can obtain Japan visa much quicker than applying directory to consulate by yourself.

Our Service Fee : A$132 per passport
Appointment required

You may be also charged a visa fee/postage fee/creditcard surcharge if applicable.

For Single Entry Visa Applicant:
Single Entry Visa is only valid for 3 months. You must enter Japan within this time frame. If your departure date is more than 3 months away, please apply when your departure date is reached.

Step
1
Make an appointment

Please make an appointment through our website.
Once we confirm your appointment request, we will send an email to your registered email address to confirm our appointment.

It takes about 2 weeks to get a visa through our agency, so please submit all documents at least 2 weeks in advance.

If your departure date is within 2 weeks, please inform us in the Message/Memo section of our Appointment Request Form that you need an urgent handling. 

*We do not accept walk-ins or appointment requests over the phone. Please make your appointment through our website instead.

Drop off or send your documents
Bring your documents and passport to our appointment when you're ready.

If you live in the Sydney area, we strongly recommend that you bring your passport directly to our office rather than sending it by post.

Wait until your visa is granted
It takes about 2 weeks to get a visa through our agency, but this may take longer depending on your type of visa. It generally takes longer if additional documents are required for further assessment.

We will email you when your passport is ready for collection.
Your visa sticker will be attached to your passport.

Pick up your passport
Once your passport is ready, please visit us again to collect it.
If you choose to receive your passport by mail, we will give you a tracking number via email.

Designated Digital Nomad Visa

Apply for Digital Nomad visa that was introduced by Japan recently!
Benefits of Designated Digital Nomad Visa
Designated Digital Nomad is a temporary visa that allows
  • Stay Japan and work remotely up to six months.
  • Bring eligible family members to Japan (**Family members are not allowed to work in Japan on Spouse or Child of Digital Nomad visa)
This visa is normally single entry however you can ask re-entry permit if you need to.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the visa, you must be
  • Only participate in a remote work with the company outside of Japan
  • Have fulfilled the criteria of the activity you have been participating under this visa
  • Have adequate financial support to support yourself and accompanying members for the duration of stay
  • Meet health and character requirements

Financial Capacity
You must have evidence of your financial capacity with your visa application. This includes:
Documents proving that the applicant's annual income is JPY 10 million or more.

Health Insurance
You must be covered by insurance against death, injury or illness during stay in Japan (compensation for medical treatment for injury or illness must be JPY 10 million or more).

​​If you live outside the Sydney area and need to send your passport by post, please plan your trip well in advance to allow sufficient time for your passport to be delivered to our office(Pitt Street, Sydney).

If you live in the Sydney area, we strongly recommend that you bring your passport directly to our office rather than sending it by post.

Our office is not responsible for delays or loss of passports in the mail.

  • What is the "Travel Itinerary"? What kind of details are in it?

    "Travel Itinerary" is one of the document you must fillout when you apply for Japan visa.

    The itinerary is designed to confirm your arrival and departure dates, as well as your planned activities during your stay in Japan. It is therefore essential that you complete and submit this document, which should include all planned activities from the date of your entry into Japan to the date of your return home.

  • How long does it take to get a Japan visa?

    Typically, it takes about 2 weeks to complete, but this can vary depending on the type of visa. It generally takes longer if additional documents are required for further assessment.

  • How much does it cost to apply for a Japan visa through our agency?

    Our service fee is A$132 per passport.
    You may be also charged a visa fee/postage fee/creditcard surcharge if applicable.

    <Visa Fee>
    Depending on nationality, visa application fees may be charged.

    ◆Single-entry Visa                    $32.00
    ◆Multiple-entry Visa                 $65.00

    *Australian citizens are exempt from visa fees.
    *Indian Passport Holder will be charged the same $9 visa fee whether applying for a single-entry or multiple-entry visa 
    *Some other countries are also exempted from visa fees. Check the visa exempt countries list to find out if your visa fee is waived. 
    *The Visa Exemption applies based on your nationality, NOT on your Australian residency status.

    <Postage Fee>
    If you need your passport returned by post, we will charge the following additional fees.

    ◆Registered Post                      $22.00
    ◆Express Post with signature  $33.00
    *It generally takes 2-7 days, however our office is not responsible for delays or loss of passports in the mail.

    <Creditcard payment surcharge>
    Additional 2% credit card fee will be applied to all credit card payments.
    ◆Creditcard surcharge              2.00%

    Alternatively, cash payments are also accepted.

  • When can I apply for a Japan visa?

    You can apply 3 months before you enter Japan if you are applying for a single entry short-term visa.

    We do not accept visa applications more than 3 months prior to your departure date.

  • Who can apply for a Japan visa through our agency?

    We, H.I.S. Australia - Sydney office, can accept visa applications and visa enquiries from NSW and NT residents.

    For residents of other states (QLD, VIC, TAS, SA & WA), please refer to the List of Embassy/Consulates in Australia and contact them directly.

    Before applying for a Japan visa, please check with VEVO to see if you qualify for one of the following visas.

    Australian citizen
    or,
    Long-Term Residents in NSW and NT
    * Permanent resident visa holders
    * Student visa holders
    * Business visa holders
    * Graduate visa holders
    * Working holiday visa holders
    A short-term visiter visa holder(such as a tourist) in Australia cannot apply for a Japan visa in Sydney.
